About Jan Darcy
Although I'm a washashore my maternal family dates back to the Mayflower. I grew up hearing stories of family members long gone and their roles in Barnstable Village life. My grandfather was the blacksmith. A great grandfather was a lighthouse keeper on Martha's Vineyard.
I grew up in the DC area. We lived for those weeks on the Cape staying in my grandparents' big rambling house next to the train tracks. As kids, we walked down to the village to bring my grampa home for lunch. There were glorious days spent on Mayflower Beach, before it was so named. And, we had wonderful exciting dune buggy rides out on Sandy Neck for family cookouts in the dunes. These are the memories that inform my Cape art.
Member of Yarmouth Art Guild, juried member of Monday Painters on the Dennis Green, of Cape Cod Museum of Art, of Cape Cod Art Center, and Eastwind Gallery, Orleans MA. Participant of CCAC Plein Air Painters, Chatham Sparkles 2019 and Barnstorming in Barnstable 2019.
